The Rockford Economic Development Committee consists of the City of Rockford, Rockford Chamber of Commerce and local business leaders committed to the growth of city retail businesses.
After years of positioning themselves against other small communities, Fluis convinced the EDC that their chief competition was actually malls, big box stores and other destination retailers and that their audience wasn’t all of West Michigan, it was residents living within five miles of businesses.
We coordinated a cable television campaign with the City and over twenty local merchants. (Merchants agreed to contribute to the campaign, effectively doubling the EDC media buy.) Spots featured a reason to shop Rockford, followed by an individual retailer pitch. Thousands of spots aired. The result? In a down economy, 2007 saw more holiday traffic than ever.
